From Sinners to Black Bag to Thunderbolts* (Spoiler Alert: The New Avengers) to Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, film has offered something for everyone this year so far. With plenty more where that came from, here are the most anticipated movies of the year, covering July to December.
Jurassic World: Rebirth (July 2)

The Jurassic World franchise returns in July with its fourth film starring Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, Mahershala Ali, Rupert Friend, Manuel Garcio-Rulfo, Luna Blaise, David Iacono, Audrina Miranda, Philippine Velge, Bechir Sylvain and Ed Skrein.
Synopsis: Five years post-Jurassic World Dominion, an expedition braves isolated equatorial regions to extract DNA from three massive prehistoric creatures for a groundbreaking medical breakthrough.
Cast: Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, Mahershala Ali, Rupert Friend.
Superman (July 11)

James Gunn’s take on the Man of Steel will see Superman (David Corenswet) embark on a journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent.
Other cast members include Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Superman’s arch nemesis, Lex Luthor.
Synopsis: Superman must reconcile his alien Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as reporter Clark Kent. As the embodiment of truth, justice and the human way he soon finds himself in a world that views these as old-fashioned.

I Know What You Did Last Summer (July 18)

After years in the making, the fourth instalment of the ‘90s horror franchise arrives in July. Ava (Chase Sui Wonders), Danica (Madelyn Cline), Stevie (Sarah Pidgeon), Teddy (Tyriq Withers), and Milo (Jonah Hauer-King) are targeted by a killer after attempting to cover up a car accident.
Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. will reprise their roles as Julie James and Ray Bronson.
Synopsis: A group of friends is terrorized by a stalker who knows about a gruesome incident from their past.

Fantastic Four: The First Steps (July 25)

It’s time for Marvel’s first family to enter the MCU thanks to Director Matt Shakman (WandaVision). Pedro Pascal stars as Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby is Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn stars as Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach is the Thing.
Synopsis: Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, the Fantastic Four must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer.
Cast: Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, Ebon Moss-Bachrach.
Happy Gilmore 2 (July 25)

Adam Sandler is back as Happy Gilmore in his long-awaited sequel, almost 30 years since the 1996 film of the same name.
Joining the film alongside Sandler are original Happy Gilmore stars Julie Bowen, Ben Stiller, and Christopher McDonald are set to return with Bad Bunny and Sandler’s daughters, Sadie and Sunny Sandler, joining the crew.
Together (July 30)

Dave Franco and Alison Brie star as a married couple who move to the countryside and find themselves encountering a mysterious force that horrifically causes changes in their bodies.
Synopsis: Years into their relationship, Tim and Millie find themselves at a crossroads as they move to the country. With tensions already flaring, an encounter with an unnatural force threatens to corrupt their lives, their love, and their flesh.

The Naked Gun (August 1)

The Naked Gun franchise is making a comeback, and this time, Liam Neeson is stepping into the spotlight as Frank Drebin Jr., the son of the legendary bumbling cop we all remember fondly.
Synopsis: Only one man has the particular set of skills... to lead Police Squad and save the world! Lt. Frank Drebin Jr. follows in his father's footsteps in The Naked Gun.

Freakier Friday (August 8)

Nostalgia wins this August with a sequel to the 2003 classic Freaky Friday.
Synopsis: 22 years after Tess and Anna endured an identity crisis, Anna now has a daughter and a soon-to-be stepdaughter. As they navigate the challenges that come when two families merge, Tess and Anna discover that lightning might strike twice.
Cast: Lindsay Lohan, Jamie Lee Curtis, Chad Michael Murray, Manny Jacinto.
Honey Don’t! (August 22)

The second “lesbian B-movie trilogy” arrives in August following Ethan Coen’s 2024 film Drive-Away Dolls. In this instalment, Honey O’Donahue (Margaret Qualley), a small-town private investigator, delves into a series of strange deaths tied to a mysterious church.
Along the way she’ll meet butch detective MG (Aubrey Plaza), cult leader Reverand Drew Devlin (Chris Evans), and detective Marty Metakawich (Charlie Day) to name a few. Despite mixed reviews coming out of Cannes, it’s certain to be a talking point.
Synopsis: A dark comedy about Honey O'Donahue, a small-town private investigator, who delves into a series of strange deaths tied to a mysterious church.

The Thursday Murder Club (August 28)

Richard Osman’s bestselling mystery novel arrives on Netflix this summer with a cast worthy of the watch alone. Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley, and Celia Imrie form the titular club, while David Tennant, Naomie Ackie, and Jonathan Pryce are among others in the cast.
Synopsis: Based on Richard Osman's international bestselling novel of the same name, THE THURSDAY MURDER CLUB follows four irrepressible retirees - Elizabeth (Helen Mirren), Ron (Pierce Brosnan), Ibrahim (Ben Kingsley) and Joyce (Celia Imrie) - who spend their time solving cold case murders for fun. When an unexplained death occurs on their own doorstep, their casual sleuthing takes a thrilling turn as they find themselves with a real whodunit on their hands. Directed by Chris Columbus, the film is the latest to be produced through the Netflix and Amblin Entertainment partnership.

Caught Stealing (August 29)

Darren Aronofsky is back with a crime thriller based on Charlie Huston's Caught Stealing. Huston is also serving as the screenwriter for this adaptation. The film follows as a former baseball player caught in the web of criminal underworld.
Synopsis: When his punk-rock neighbour asks him to take care of his cat for a few days, New York City bartender Hank Thompson suddenly finds himself caught in the middle of a motley crew of threatening gangsters who all want a piece of him.
Cast: Austin Butler, Regina King, Zoë Kravitz, Matt Smith, Liev Schreiber, Vincent D'Onofrio, Griffin Dunne, Bad Bunny, and Carol Kane.
The Roses (August 29)

Life seems easy for picture-perfect couple Ivy (Olivia Colman) and Theo (Benedict Cumberbatch). They each have successful careers, are in a loving marriage, and have great kids. However, when Theo’s career nosedives while Ivy’s takes off, resentment ignites. The Roses is a reimagining of the 1989 classic film The War of the Roses, based on the novel by Warren Adler. Allison Janney, Andy Samberg, Kate McKinnon, and Ncuti Gatwa round out the cast.
Synopsis: A tinderbox of competition and resentments underneath the façade of a picture-perfect couple is ignited when the husband's professional dreams come crashing down.

A Big Bold Beautiful Journey (September 19)

From the mind of Kogonada (After Yang) comes A Big Bold Beautiful Journey starring Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell. The pair stars as two strangers who meet at a wedding and embark on a journey that connects and shapes them.
Synopsis: In this tale, David heads to a wedding in his old car with a unique GPS. He meets Sarah, and together, they embark on a journey suggested by the GPS. Along the way, they confront their pasts and explore painted landscapes, leading to a deeper connection. As they contemplate their future, they face a crucial decision about their relationship.

One Battle After Another (September 26)

A former member of a revolutionary group seeks help from other revolutionaries to find his missing daughter. Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Regina Hall, and Teyana Taylor, among others.
Synopsis: When their evil enemy resurfaces after 16 years, a group of ex-revolutionaries reunite to rescue one of their own's daughter.

Predator: Badlands (November 7)

In a surprising twist, a Weyland-Yutani android named Thia forms an unlikely alliance with an outcast Predator named Dek in this film.
Synopsis: In the future on a remote planet, a young Predator, outcast from his clan, finds an unlikely ally in Thia and embarks on a treacherous journey in search of the ultimate adversary.
Cast: Elle Fanning and Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi.
Wicked: For Good (November 21)

The second of the two-part feature film adaptation of Wicked flies into theatres in November. Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, Jonathan Bailey, Marissa Bode, Ethan Slater, Jeff Goldblum and more return alongside director John M. Chu.
Synopsis: Follows Elphaba, the future Wicked Witch of the West and her relationship with Glinda, the Good Witch of the North. The second of a two-part feature film adaptation of the Broadway musical.
Cast: Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, Jonathan Bailey, Marissa Bode, Jeff Goldblum, Peter Dinklage.
Zootopia 2 (November 26)

Judy Hopps returns later this year to team up with Nick Wilde to crack a new and dangerous case. Jason Bateman, Fortune Feimster, Ginnifer Goodwin, Ke Huy Quan and Shakira star.
Synopsis: Brave rabbit cop Judy Hopps and her friend, the fox Nick Wilde, team up again to crack a new case, the most perilous and intricate of their careers.

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery (December 12)

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery is the third film featuring Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig), who will unravel a brand-new murder mystery in an as-yet-undisclosed setting, surrounded by a new cast of suspects. Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack, and Thomas Haden Church also star.
Synopsis: Benoit Blanc returns for his most dangerous case yet. Sequel to 'Glass Onion (2022)'.

Avatar: Fire and Ash (December 19)

Despite plot details being kept under wraps, excitement for the latest Avatar instalment is high. Fire and Ash stars Zoe Saldana, Kate Winslet, Sigourney Weaver, Jemaine Clement, Matt Gerald, David Thewlis, Sam Worthington, Edie Falco, Cliff Curtis and Oona Chaplin.
Synopsis: Jake and Neytiri's family grapples with grief after Neteyam's death, encountering a new, aggressive Na'vi tribe, the Ash People, who are led by the fiery Varang, as the conflict on Pandora escalates and a new moral focus emerges.

Marty Supreme (December 25)

Timothée Chalamet stars as ping pong champion Marty Reisman in Josh Safdie’s solo directorial debut for A24, who embarks on an affair with Gwyneth Paltrow, the wife of a fellow competitor.
Synopsis: Marty Mauser, a young man with a dream no one respects, goes to hell and back in pursuit of greatness.

The Housemaid (December 25)
An adaptation of Freida McFadden’s novel of the same name, The Housemaid stars Sydney Sweeney as Millie, a housemaid for rich couple Nina (Amanda Seyfried) and Andrew (Brandon Sklenar).
Synopsis: Follows a struggling woman who is happy to start over as a housemaid for an affluent, elite couple.
Cast: Sydney Sweeney, Amanda Seyfried, Brandon Sklenar, Michael Morrone, Megan Ferguson.
