  • REVIEW: Is 'Twisters' Better Than The Original?

Twisters has already won over audiences by beating expectations with $81.2M opening which is 60% ahead of the $50M+ projection. But is Twisters  any better than the original? Making a sequel/remake 30 years later isn’t a bold move as it became the trend in Hollywood ( Beetlejuice 2, The Crow, Gladiator II …), but succeeding to make a film as good as the original is a pretty big challenge. Twisters  follows the same narrative structure of the original but doesn’t hesitate to take risks by modifying the original story, making it its own with quite unique new characters whose personalities are reminiscent of the 1996 movie. Twisters is far more realistic when it comes to tornados. From the sound design to the visual, the storms are more stressful and anxiety-inducing. The film almost leans into horror, especially in that shocking introduction. Twisters isn’t interested to showcase the family & friendly relationships, it's more intimate and focuses harder on the human & material losses from the disastrous tornados. They couldn’t have casted a better actress than Daisy Edgar-Jones to portray someone with a lot of compassion, remorse and guilt. As for him, Glen Powell commands the screen with his charisma and charm. A lot of people consider him to be the next big movie star like Tom Cruise , who actually came to the movie's premiere to support Glen. Twisters is well adapted to our times with new cutting-edge military technologies for the tornados and YouTube with livestreaming, offering quite funny sequences with POV shots and also allowing for criticism of excessive fanaticism that leads to recklessness. The fans of the original film will enjoy the few references thrown in the film like Dorothy and the little flying spheres. To better capture the atmosphere and vibe of the first film, director Lee Isaac Chung decided to shoot the film on 35MM to capture the look of the '90s, which is recognizable with the colors and the film grain. Surprisingly, Twisters is explicitly more pro-American than the original. The film glorifies rural American land and its tradition. It is also pretty baffling to make a disaster film about nature today without questioning human responsibility and climate change. That would have been an interesting path to delve in. Although the tornadoes are much more realistic here, they are far from being as menacing as in the original where they almost acted as a villain with their terrific sound design. The original music was quite forgettable and they gave more space for the soundtrack. One of the strengths of the original was its score, which conveyed an incredible sense of adventure. It also excelled in its very human approach to a group of friends who feel like a family: everyone knows each other well, the meal at Aunt Meg's where everyone shares memories of the good old days as if they had lived their entire lives together like a real family. The cast’s chemistry is just unmatched, from Philip Seymour Hoffman having the best time of his life to the love triangle where you could feel Bill and Jo’s desire through the screen.  Twisters doesn’t have the charm & energy of the original, but manages to create its own identity with its solid cast (Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell, Anthony Ramos, David Corenswet), intense action and different take on the 1996 disaster epic Twister . The movie cost $155M to produce (without marketing), a figure that has already been reached at the global box office. Rating: 3.5/5 Twisters is now in theaters worldwide.

  • Power Rangers Beyond 2024: The Future of The Franchise Teased at SDCC

The Power Rangers , our teenagers with attitude and multicolored superheroes seemed to be in a coma clinching to life support after 30 years. The series as we know it ended in 2023 with Power Rangers: Cosmic Fury following the anniversary special Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always . News on Jonathan Entwistle and Jenny Klein's young adult Power Rangers reboot was alarmingly silent until TV Line revealed that the series will no longer be moving on Netflix with murmurings of Hasbro reworking the series with a new partner. Not to add to the despairing news, an announcement was made that Hasbro would auction every prop and costume from the entire series through Horizon Auctions at SDCC. All that remains are the titles from comic book publisher Boom! Studios in the Darkest Hour run, the Across The Morphin Grid Anthology, and Power Rangers Infinity . Is Power Rangers Dead? No, Power Rangers is not dead, but it is on the verge of a relaunch. There will be new content and merchandise coming in the near future, beginning with Boom! Studios' Power Rangers Prime in November, according to Bleeding Cool. Under the merchandise side, there will be new toys courtesy of Playmates through their licensing deal with Hasbro, launching in late 2025. As mentioned earlier, there will be a new Power Rangers despite the Netflix cancelation. It will simply be another reboot with a different platform. Whether Jonathan Entwistle or Jenny Klein would be involved remains to be soon as there has been no official word regarding their involvement. We may get new information on the reboot closer to the end of the year as Hasbro Entertainment President Olivier Dumont hopes to provide updates on their 35 projects currently in development around that time. Until the next reboot releases fans can enjoy every season from MMPR to Dino Charge on Power Rangers' official YouTube account. Ninja Steel, Dino Fury, Cosmic Fury, and Once & Always are on Netflix, while Beast Morphers is on Netflix only in select regions, and can be purchased on Amazon. About Power Rangers Power Rangers is celebrated 30 continuous years on the air, making it one of the longest-running kids’ live-action series in television history, with over 900 episodes. Created by Haim Saban and launched in 1993 with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers , the series has a worldwide fan base and legacy. Sources: TV Line , Bleeding Cool

  • Top 7 Wolverine and Deadpool Comic Moments

The worst best friends ever? Wolverine and Deadpool have a number of similarities that draw them together, from their colorful spandex and penchant for murder, to their uncanny healing factor. Although their history has had its rocky moments, the uncanny duo have grown to share a begrudging, but mutual respect for one another. With Deadpool & Wolverine hitting theaters this weekend, let's revisit some of their most memorable comic moments over the years. 7. The Beginning of a Long Friendship When Wolverine and Deadpool first met in Wolverine (1988) #88 , naturally they tried to kill each other. It wasn't until Wolverine (1988) Annual '95 where they first worked together, when Deadpool was kidnapped by Doctor Westergaard and Slayback because of his healing factor. Wolverine initially didn't want to help Deadpool, but he was convinced by his friend, Maverick. It was only through him that Wolverine was forced to acknowledge the shared past the two of them have as lab rats turned weapons. This was the true beginning of a very long friendship. 6. Poolverine In Wolverine (2020) #23 , Wolverine had no choice but to call on Deadpool for help dealing with Danger, the sentient embodiment of the X-Men's Danger Room, after she goes rogue. The two allies infiltrate Xavier's old school (abandoned since the X-Men had moved to Krakoa) to apprehend her. It is there that they fall into one of Danger's traps, a magnetized blender, and are pulverized into oblivion... Except, their twinning healing factors allow them to survive, temporarily binding them together to form a nightmare fueled monstrosity. (Could we see Poolverine make an appearance in Wolverine and Deadpool ? Or is that too much to stomach?) 5. In Mutant Business Deadpool has always wanted to be an X-Man. He's always wanted to be a mutant , period. It's why when the X-Men established their sovereign nation of Krakoa, he takes it upon himself in Deadpool (2019) #6 to invade it in the pursuit of his perceived birthright and the cure for cancer. (The mutants didn't have the cure for cancer.) Regardless, he bumps blades with Wolverine as the mutants try to handle this infestation. 4. Two Sides of the Same F*cked-Up Coin Despite toeing the line of good following his past as a mercenary, it appeared Deadpool returns to his villainous ways when he is hired to kill Wolverine in Wolverine: Origins #25. The Merc with a Mouth establishes a drawn-out scheme, which ends with him about to drown the Canadian mutant. It's a poignant moment in their history, as the two go back and forth, stabbing at one another's egos and revealing Deadpool's insecurity to contrast with Wolverine's marred past. Wolverine is accepted by the X-Men for trying to be better, while Deadpool doesn't care about trying. All of this turns hilarious when it is revealed in the following issue that the entire bounty was set-up by Wolverine himself to draw out his own son, Daken. There was never even a cash reward in the first place for Deadpool to claim. Womp womp. 3. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly Deadpool (2013) #15 - #19 sees the Merc with a Mouth kidnapped by the Butler, a former member of the Weapon Plus program. This program was responsible for projects which created the likes of Deadpool, along with Wolverine and even Captain America. Luckily, the two latter heroes help to rescue Deadpool and the other subjects imprisoned in the camp with him. It's heartwarming to see these different figures who had chosen different walks of life, united over a shared history of lost autonomy. 2. I am Fire and Life Incarnate! I am... Deadpool? Once again, Wolverine needs Deadpool's help with a Shi'ar Stalker robot lands on Earth in pursuit of Jean Grey, who at the time, had been long deceased. Deadpool became the prime candidate due to his superb healing factor that could withstand the Stalker's relentless attacks. In order to hold the Stalker's attention, Wolverine dresses Deadpool up in one of Jean's old Phoenix costumes—which works. The two are able to save the day and eviscerate the Stalker. Why does Logan have one of Jean's old costumes? Did he keep it in the same musty closet he kept a lock of Jean's hair? Does she have knowledge of any of this? So many questions, and all of which are better left to the idle imagination. Even a Mercenary Has Morals In Uncanny X-Force (2010) #5 , Deadpool joins Wolverine on a black ops team of mutants, carrying out the jobs that need to be done. Their first mission is to kill Apocalypse —well, a version of him that has been reborn as an innocent child. After Fantomex finally pulls the trigger, it is only Logan who has the guts to defend the choice. I mean, it's Apocalypse we're talking about, right? Deadpool on the other hand vocally disagrees with what went down. The bombshell that follows is that despite being employed, Deadpool had never cashed a single check. Wade Wilson has always been an enigma, but this moment reveals that even this notorious mercenary had lines he wouldn't cross. Maybe that's why Logan keeps the annoying Merc with a Mouth around. For underneath the firearms, the red and black latex, the sardonic attitude, and the carefree spirit —he still has a heart. The uncanny duo reunite in Deadpool & Wolverine , in theaters on July 26th! Also check out issue #3 of DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE: WWIII (2024), in stores now!

  • REVIEW: 'Exploding Kittens' Season 1

Netflix's new board game adaptation, Exploding Kittens , falls short of being a faithful representation of the game. When I first heard about the show, I anticipated a close adaptation, though I had no idea how that would work—and if you've played the game, you'll understand why. Then the trailer came and I thought "the God and the Devil in cat bodies sent to Earth? Hell, yeah! Sign me up!" That excitement lasted until i saw the first episode of the series. The series introduces us to a careless, apathetic god being punished and sent to live with the Higgins family, non-believers who need their problems fixed. The Higgins family is dysfunctional and distant. The mother, Abbie, initially comes across as strict and aloof, but we soon learn she fears losing her family as her children grow up. She is married to Marv, who works at the local bulk-buy store. Their son, Aiden, is obsessed with becoming famous online, while their daughter is an intelligent, science-devoted young woman. The family has very obvous compatibility issues and Godcat tries to bring them together by forcing them to play a deadly board game, which is also nothing like Exploding Kittens , the board game. This event sparks the family's journey towards becoming more involved in each other's lives. As the series progresses, we discover that Abbie was neglected as a child by a mother who didn't care about her interests. Abbie is continuing this cycle, but desires to break free from it. We watch the family make mistakes but also begin to bond more. This family drama is laden with clichés and jokes that will likely become outdated soon. The satirical elements of the series are overly obvious, making it feel like the writers are spoon-feeding the audience rather than being subtle. For instance, naming the "Karen" type neighbor Karen is unnecessary; viewers can make that connection without explicit labeling. The humor often feels forced and lacks the cleverness needed to sustain interest over multiple episodes. What began as a promising premise quickly devolves into an unfunny show with superficial humor. The initial excitement generated by the unique concept—a divine cat sent to fix a dysfunctional family—fades as the series relies heavily on predictable plotlines and uninspired gags. The writers seem to struggle with balancing the absurdity of the premise with engaging story arcs. The potential for a rich, layered narrative exploring family dynamics and celestial politics is squandered in favor of cheap laughs and formulaic scenarios. I had a glimmer of hope with Devilcat's introduction and the exploration of Hell & Heaven politics. The idea of celestial beings navigating earthly challenges and the interplay between their heavenly duties and personal agendas had the potential to add depth to the storyline. However, this aspect of the show fails to deliver. One redeeming aspect of the series is the performances of Tom Ellis as Godcat and Sasheer Zamata as Devilcat. Their banter and dialogue are a delight to hear, and provide the show's few genuinely enjoyable moments. Ellis brings a charming irreverence to his role by capturing the lazy yet well-meaning nature of his character. His comedic timing and delivery often elevate the material, making even the most mundane scenes entertaining. Zamata, on the other hand, infuses Devilcat with a sharp wit and mischievous energy. Their chemistry is palpable, and their interactions are the highlights of an otherwise lackluster series. While Exploding Kittens have an intriguing premise and strong performances from its lead actors, it ultimately falls short of its potential. The over-reliance on clichés, outdated jokes, and superficial humor undermines the show's ability to deliver a compelling narrative. The missed opportunities for deeper exploration of its unique themes and the lack of subtlety in its satire leave much to be desired. Tom Ellis and Sasheer Zamata's superb performances are not enough to redeem the show as a whole. Rating: 2/5 Exploding Kittens is now streaming on Netflix.

  • EXCLUSIVE: Everything You Need To Know About Ryan Murphy's New Horror Series 'Grotesquerie'

Since 2011, Ryan Murphy has been cementing himself as an unstoppable force in horror television. Between fifteen seasons of the American Horror Story franchise, Netflix’s wildly popular Ratched and The Watcher miniseries, and FOX’s cancelled cult comedy Scream Queens , his work has amassed 110 Primetime Emmy® Award nominations in the genre alone. Though shrouded in secrecy, Murphy’s next twisted venture for FX Networks promises another success. In our latest exclusive, Nexus Point News breaks down everything you need to know about Grotesquerie.   On February 23, Ryan Murphy Productions released a cryptic teaser  on Instagram to announce a new horror drama series coming to FX in the fall. Titled Grotesquerie , it was revealed to be starring Niecy Nash-Betts ( Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story , Scream Queens ), Courtney B. Vance ( Lovecraft Country, The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story) , and Lesley Manville ( The Crown , Back to Black ). Grotesquerie , which is co-created by Jon Robin Baitz ( The West Wing ) and Joe Baken ( Doctor Odyssey ), entered production in Los Angeles, California in late April 2024. Confirmed directors for the series include Ryan Murphy himself, Max Winkler ( FEUD: Capote vs. The Swans ), as well as Elegance Bratton and Alexis Martin Woodall ( American Horror Stories ). Soon after filming commenced, series lead Niecy Nash-Betts took to Instagram to share behind-the-scenes photos  and videos  from the set. It was through these that Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, the viral sensation currently dating Taylor Swift, was confirmed to be a guest star. On the May 15th episode  of his podcast New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce , the NFLer opened up about his headline fodder casting: “It's been so much fun. Ryan Murphy is an unbelievable writer, director, producer, all of the above, man. He’s just– there’s nothing he can’t do and everybody’s just been so helpful in making me feel comfortable.” Ryan Murphy Productions has kept details regarding Grotesquerie and its exact plot close to the chest. However, an entry in Production Weekly  offered the following description for the series: “Lois, an experienced detective with a seemingly flawless façade, finds herself grappling with inner turmoil while delving into the case of a brutal serial killer. As she digs deeper, she begins to entertain the possibility that the perpetrator may be more than human, perhaps even demonic in nature.” Nexus Point News exclusively reported that Niecy Nash-Betts will be taking on the central role as Detective Lois Tryon in Grotesquerie ,   which has since been confirmed by FX Networks. On the 2024 BET Awards red carpet, Nash-Betts teased her turn as Det. Tryon to Entertainment Tonight : “I’ve never played a role like this. It’s very dark, I’m so excited for people to see it.” She also alluded to her wife, singer Jessica Betts, making a cameo appearance.  In addition to Niecy Nash-Betts and her wife, Nexus Point News also broke the news that Grotesquerie  would feature Tony Award® nominee Micaela Diamond ( Elsbeth , Tick, Tick... Boom! ) as Sister Megan, a nun from a local Catholic newspaper who teams up with Det. Tryon to solve the murders. The gruesome homicides have a mystifying religious bent to them: the killer’s calling card is a series of chilling biblical allusions left behind at each of the crime scenes. Courtney B. Vance plays Det. Tryon’s husband Marshall, who works closely with Travis Kelce’s character.  On August 13, FX Networks released the poster for Grotesquerie and announced its premiere date: the first two episodes will air on the linear channel on Wednesday, September 25 at 10/9c and can be streamed on Hulu the following day. Additionally, they offered the following synopsis for the series: "In Ryan Murphy’s 10-episode drama series Grotesquerie for FX, a series of heinous crimes have unsettled a small community. Detective Lois Tryon feels these crimes are eerily personal, as if someone—or something—is taunting her. At home, Lois grapples with a strained relationship with her daughter, a husband in long-term hospital care and her own inner demons. With no leads and unsure of where to turn, she accepts the help of Sister Megan, a nun and journalist with the Catholic Guardian . Sister Megan, with her own difficult past, has seen the worst of humanity, yet she still believes in its capacity for good. Lois, on the other hand, fears the world is succumbing to evil. As Lois and Sister Megan string together clues, they find themselves ensnared in a sinister web that only seems to raise more questions than answers." FX also revealed that Lesley Manville plays a character named Nurse Redd, Nicholas Alexander Chavez ( Monsters: The Erik and Lyle Menendez Story , General Hospital ) is slated to take on the role of Father Charlie, and that Raven Goodwin ( Being Mary Jane , Good Luck Charlie ) portrays Lois and Marshall’s daughter, Merritt. We can exclusively confirm that Manville joins Nash-Betts, Vance, Diamond, Chavez, and Goodwin as a series regular.  San Diego Comic-Con 2024 offered our first official look at Grotesquerie last month. FX Networks announced that its annual immersive experiences and photo ops at the Hilton Bayfront Lawn would include, “a glimpse into the world of Grotesquerie , the new Ryan Murphy horror series premiering this fall,” as part of an American Horror Story themed activation, the FX Fearless Hellevator. Attractions Magazine released a full walkthrough of the FX Fearless Hellevator experience on YouTube. D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event also provided American Horror Story fans a sneak peek at Grotesquerie through their AHS Wax House exhibit , which unveiled the series' official logo with a chilling painted glass display. FX has since publicly released an eerie extended teaser for Grotesquerie . Watch below: Grotesquerie premieres Wednesday, September 25 at 10/9c on FX. New episodes will be available to stream the following day on Hulu. This story will be updated as new information becomes available. • EXCLUSIVE: DC’s ‘Paradise Lost’ Circling in on Writers

Paradise Lost   was one of the more interesting projects announced for the DCU by James Gunn during his initial DC Studios’ presentation back in January of 2023. It serves as a prequel to the DCU’s Wonder Woman, which raised many questions like whether Gal Gadot would reprise her role or when we’ll actually see Wonder Woman in the DCU. Since its announcement, there have been no updates on the series. We’ve learned from our source that Kira Snyder and Janet Lin are in talks to join the project. Snyder is best known for being a writer and producer on Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale  and the CW’s The 100 . Lin’s writing credits include Netflix’s Bridgerton  and Cursed  and Fox’s Bones. Much is being kept under wraps regarding the series. During the project’s announcement, Gunn described the project as being similar to Game of Thrones  and compared Themyscira to Westeros. In addition, the series is set to focus on the inhabitants of the island prior to the birth of Wonder Woman.  The title of the series shares similarities to Phil Jimenez and George Perez’s story arc on Wonder Woman, “Paradise Island Lost” which could point to some inspiration for the plot of the series. The story focused on a civil war on Themyscira between the Themysciran Amazons and the Bana-Mighdall Amazons. The setting of the series is similar to Wonder Woman Historia: The Amazons, a series that Gunn praised on X in August of 2023. Wonder Woman Historia: The Amazons tells the origin of the Amazons and features Wonder Woman’s mother, Hppolyta as a protagonist which could hint at her being a prominent character in Paradise Lost . Paradise Lost  is currently being developed by DC Studios for Max as part of "Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters" of the DC Universe. This story is developing.

  • REVIEW: ‘My Adventures with Superman’ Season 2, Episode 10: “My Adventures with Supergirl”

The Season 2 Finale of My Adventures with Superman has been released: Explosively packed with action and driven by meaningful storytelling. “My Adventures with Supergirl” brings a great resolution to Clark and Kara's storylines. The first scene immediately opens with Brainiac's red laser beam viciously charging toward Metropolis as its citizens (including our knocked-out superheroes) fear for their lives. The way the camera work and musical score are executed during this intro is wonderfully satisfying and sets a strong emotional tone for what’s to come. You can truly tell that this episode is a high-scale event and the increase in quality shines. We then see Amanda Waller as she & Lex Luthor fight off dozens of Brainiac’s troops that have infested the city’s streets. She attempts to communicate with her operative, Slade Wilson, but he's unresponsive. Under pressure, she yells at Lex to shut down the hacked Project M bots they initially sent out to defeat Superman but he responds with "What do you think I'm trying to do?! It's not my fault that you asked for an unbeatable army!" During this conversation, the audience gets a signal that the goals of both parties are no longer the same: Amanda wants to use her expertise to protect Earth, while Lex most likely wants to utilize his skills to elevate in power. Lois, Jimmy, and Steve escape the heat of the battle and wind up bumping into John Irons (Steel), who’s suited up, to help them protect them from Brainiac’s wrath. On the other side of town, Kara & Clark are surprisingly greeted by Livewire, Heatwave, and other Intergang members. As you may know, these individuals played a key role in causing trouble last season but this time, they are willing to be a part of positive change to help Superman restore order to the city. I admire how the villains displayed humanity and compassion for a brief period, despite not necessarily being "heroes"—it gives the sense of unity between these characters a deeper meaning, showing how much of an impact Superman has on the citizens of his city. While Intergang and Dr. Irons hold off the troops of bots, Kara & Clark storm into Braniac’s ship where they begin the showdown many fans, including myself, have been waiting for. Before the fight starts, Braniac tells them that Jor-El held peace talks with enemies to avoid further bloodshed but desperate to carry on his sole duty of destruction, Braniac shockingly reveals that HE was the one who destroyed Kyrpton, killing Kal-El’s parents and the entire civilization. I thought Clark was going berserk shortly after learning that information, but I was impressed to see how well he managed to keep his composure despite everything else around him crashing down. As an additional blow, Brainiac lures Kara under his manipulative control once more to betray her cousin & take on the mission to kill him once and for all. If you thought the enhancements in animation were great this season, the final fight sequence is REMARKABLY stunning. The colors and details are vividly eye-striking, and the emotional depth within Clark and Kara’s faces makes this one episode truly make you feel like you’re watching a feature film instead of a series. Jack Quaid and Kiana Madeira's voice acting performances are breathtaking— I never thought a project could be this great in raw quality. Instead of physically fighting Kara, Clark uses the wonderful power of his heart to neutralize his immensely rage-filled cousin. Jimmy and Lois, watching this fight unfold in real-time, understand how Kara needs people to show her that she’s not alone and that there’s more to life than being under authoritative control. Feeling the emotional comfort that Clark, Jimmy, and Lois surrounded her with, Kara can permanently break free from the shackles of mind control and teams up with Clark to push Brainaic’s ship out of Earth’s orbit. Out of desperation to earn a victory, Brainiac uses Kryptonite to turn his ship into a massive force that knocks Kara into the Sun—in a way that tricks the audience into believing that she died: but we discover (through Clark rushing after to save her) that the Sun heightens Kryptonian abilities. The duo, now activated by the solar energy of the Sun as Superman and Supergirl, use their newfound resource of power to blast Brainiac along with his ship into smithereens. The day has been saved, and the citizens of Metropolis no longer have to live in fear of an alien invader. Superman and Supergirl return to Earth under their human identities and reunite with Jimmy and Lois. The last few shots of the episode set up a new Season 3 storyline for Lex Luthor and Slade Wilson as they look up at a famously recognizable building in DC Comics history that’s been newly constructed, Lex Corp. At the Daily Planet, Lois and Clark finally talk about her moving to Gotham to elevate her career alongside Vicky Vale. She tells him she’d rather stay with the man she loves and carve out her journalistic prominence as Lois Lane. For a split second, the way Clark held the newspaper as he said he'd fly over to Gotham anytime Lois needed him, almost made me think that we were about to get a tease of the city that is home to billionaire playboy/masked vigilante many fans want Superman to encounter, Bruce Wayne (a.k.a Batman). Even though we did not get a complete visual of the city, that small moment officially opens the door to the possibility of having an expanded 'My Adventures' universe with other famous DC heroes. Rating: 5/5 Episode 10 of My Adventures with Superman Season 2 is NOW STREAMING on Max.

  • REVIEW: 'My Adventures with Superman' Season 2: ''Pierce the Heavens, Superman!''

DISCLAIMER: This review includes spoilers. The latest episode of My Adventures with Superman Season 2: "Pierce the Heavens, Superman!'' is filled with heart and exciting action sequences. As the episode begins, we find Kal-El in standard Kryptonian attire as he communicates with a local creature named Sun-Eater. His biological mother, Lara Lor-Van, scolds him for attempting to sympathize with the alien as he discovers they are the last of its species, telling him "kindness is a weakness." Knowing Kal-El's radiant spirit acts as a compass effectively throughout any scenario, this moment suppresses that admirable quality fans love and ignites his journey of rediscovery with a compelling start. Shortly after, a visibly distraught Lois arrives at the Kryptonian scenery, unsure of how she arrived. Then, she is confronted by Jor-El who notices that she is a trespasser to their nation. Back on Earth, Jimmy and Kara hover over the Metropolis skyline using the stolen aircraft from Star Labs as they prep to warn the human society of the imminent threat. Lois (also on board), unconscious under Black Mercy's control, is determined more than ever to recover Clark after Brainiac’s successful capture in the previous episode. To Jimmy and Kara’s unpleasant surprise, Amanda Waller is eagerly waiting to arrest them as they abruptly descend from the spaceship due to treason of the United States government. Jimmy attempts to warn Amanda of the alien invasion underway: but she immediately dismisses him due to the assumption that Kal-El is the threat being described "Then we'll give Superman the same warm welcome we gave you." Since Amanda never perceived Superman as a healthy contribution to society, her response does not come as a shock, giving off the impression that she'll never see Superman as the hero he truly is. The next scene displays Jor-El and Lara Lor-Van detaining Lois as they figure out how "the glitch" interfered with their simulation (this is where we discover Brainiac's manipulative expertise is at work once again but on a grander scale). Kal-El arrives to greet Lois with a slice of cake and she becomes instantly startled knowing that this version of Clark is not the same one she grew to love. Both share an admirable moment that helps Lois remember cherished memories of their relationship. As she quickly tries to refresh Kal-El's mind with a summary of her identity, she is halted by Jor-El and Lora Lor-Van, who claim that Lois is dangerous and erases her mind—resulting in the mission starting from scratch. On the drive back to take the new prisoners to Human Defense Corps HQ, Amanda Waller is paused by Perry White and Vicky Vale—while they explain that arresting journalists is an explicit violation of the 'Fourth Amendment'. As the van door opens, Kara and Jimmy are freed by fellow Flamebro, Steve Lombard, and they quickly escape from the scene. Brainiac (in the form of Superman's body) devastatingly arrives at Metropolis, smirking as his conquest for Earth comes to fruition. Kal-El is ordered to abandon Lois as his parents discover her plan to save him. Due to Lois’s natural reoccurring ability to adapt to adversity, she eventually figured out the key to Brainiac’s simulation. Through a process of multiple hilariously failed attempts to regain the consciousness of her significant other, her emotional final attempt (which is undoubtedly my favorite part of this episode) finds Lois confessing that she's "desperately in love" with Kal-El and that she named him 'Superman' due to his heart, not his power set. Immediately unlocking Clark's memories, his identity is restored in a completely heartwarming way. The lovebirds team up to escape the Kryptonian mental prison: while the audience shockingly discovers that Lois temporarily gained powers in this realm, allowing them to maneuver their way out much quicker. Similarly back on Earth, Kara & Jimmy share an intimate moment as he ensures her that she no longer has to abide by superior authority; expressing she finally has the ultimate choice to decide who SHE wants to be, influencing her personal decision to help Metropolis face off against Brainiac. During the final act of the episode, as Brainiac uses Superman's body to attack the citizens of Metropolis, Kara swoops in before he can land a hit and exclaims "You forced me to destroy worlds, but I will fight for this one!" Amanda Waller and Lex Luthor, still eager to take down Superman (and now Kara) through Project M, attempt to eradicate him only to be outplayed by Brainiac’s hack. As Clark regains his identity in real time, he transforms into Superman once again but this time with a slightly remodeled look, displaying new gold accents throughout his suit. As everyone on the field realizes the only way to save Earth and avoid mass destruction is for the city of Metropolis to team up as a unit (something Clark has always strived for since his initial appearance as Superman), they allow Superman and Kara to handle the alien threat. Shortly afterward, a Kryptonite blast from Brainiac’s swarm of bots knocks our heroes out and leaves viewers with a frightening shot of a red laser charging down towards the city as Lois, Jimmy, Steve, and dozens of citizens are close to being executed. Will our heroes be able to eliminate Brainiac once and for all? "Pierce The Heavens, Superman" was a seamless watching experience from beginning to end—in my honest opinion, one of the BEST episodes of Season 2. The enhancements in animation continue to impress, the voice acting is crisp & emotionally natural (it felt like I was watching a real life story unfold completely distracted by it being an animated series, the way I was hooked to the screen). Brainiac, Amanda Waller, Lex Luthor's villainy are all extremely captivating & well-executed. The romantic aspects are wholeheartedly admirable, Jimmy and Kara's dynamic is dope, but Clark & Lois undoubtedly stole the spotlight. This project brings a great balance to all the qualities you'd expect from a series and more. I can't wait to see how this chapter ends! Rating: 4/5 My Adventures with Superman Season 2, Episode 9, is now streaming on Max.

The next installments of the Avengers franchise continue to remain in flux as Marvel Studios’ Avengers 5 has once again lost a writer. As we have learned from our sources, Michael Waldron has departed from the project, leaving it without a director, writer, and official title now. Since the film’s announcement in July 2022, what was originally known as Avengers: The Kang Dynasty , the project has lost Destin Daniel-Cretton ( Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings ) as its director, Jeff Loveness ( Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania ) as a writer, Jonathan Majors as the titular antagonist, and now Waldron.  Following Majors’ departure from the project and the title change, it’s currently unknown how much of a presence Kang the Conqueror will have in the film, if any at all. It’s possible that a new writer can bring with them a new plot and primary antagonist to the film. Many fans have speculated that since the subtitle has been dropped from the film’s title, it could possibly set up potential antagonists like Doctor Doom, the Beyonder, or more. As we reported earlier this month, the film is looking to start shooting in late-March of 2025 through August of that year. With eight months left until production commences, it’s likely that Waldron’s replacement will only come aboard to revise and touch up Waldron’s script. On the other hand, this would not be the first time Marvel Studios has hired a writer to rewrite a script under a time constraint. In 2020, Waldron himself was hired to rewrite Scott Derrickson and Jade Halley Bartlett’s script for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness  three weeks prior to shooting. Waldron is still attached to Avenegers Secret Wars which is expected to hit theaters in 2027. Avengers 5 is currently slated to release on May 1, 2026 as part of the Marvel Studios’ Phase Six of the Multiverse Saga, the current saga of the long-spanning Marvel Cinematic Universe. This story is still developing.

For example, Belle Reve had to look the way it did in Gunn's The Suicide Squad. Creature Commandos is “dark, humorous but never goofy and unsentimental, adult-themed show with political storylines.” This Frankenstein is a lovestruck version. • EXCLUSIVE: Peacemaker Season 2 Casting Descriptions Shed Light on Mystery Character and a New Character

Peacemaker  season 2, the follow-up to the now not-canon season 1 of the critically acclaimed series is currently shooting in Atlanta through Fall of this year. After fans had noticed that David Denman was following cast members of the series, @DCUleaks hinted it could be for Peacemaker on X (formerly known as Twitter). Last month, it was revealed that Denman had joined the cast as a mystery character along with Sol Rodriguez, who will be portraying Sasha Bordeaux. According to our sources, some unveiled casting descriptions reveal some details on Denman’s characters. Denman is set to play “Larry”, who’s described as being a big tough guy with an equally big heart and a true best friend. The role is part of the main cast. In addition to “Larry”, another role is being cast. A guest star role for “Red St. Wild” is being cast at the moment. They are looking for men of all ethnicities between 30-65. The character is bearded, an outdoorsman, and a hunter with a fondness for prey. It is currently unknown whether these are codenames or the characters’ actual names. It’s very likely these two characters could have been created for the season, but with the use of codenames, there is a possibility that they are characters from the comics. The description for the role of “Larry” sounds as if it can be an old friend of Peacemaker’s or possibly his neighbor. Due to the limited information available in the casting description, the possibilities of what character this could be are plentiful. Similarly, “Red St. Wild” can be either an original character or a comic character. Please note the following is just speculation, but an obscure character that shares similarity with “Red” is Adam Orion aka The Hunter. Although this obscure red headed character exists in the Legion of Super-Heroes continuity, given James Gunn’s penchant for lesser-known characters, The Hunter is a contender for who the role could be. Peacemaker  season 2 is currently shooting in Atlanta until Fall 2024. Plot details are under wraps, but the cast of the first season will return. Given Frank Grillo’s involvement in the show, it’s likely his Rick Flag Sr.will face off against Peacemaker.

  • EXCLUSIVE: ‘Avengers 5’ Production Schedule Revealed

Avengers 5 has been through it all. The project has lost a director, lost a writer, and lost its original title before production has even begun. Things are beginning to align, as we have heard that the project is finally aiming to shoot soon. Several months ago, it was previously reported that project was aiming to shoot around January 2025, but as production approaches, dates have become more clear. Marvel star, Benedict Cumberbatch has also confirmed that filming is set to commence next year. The highly anticipated follow up to Avengers: Endgame , is looking to begin production in late-March 2025, which will run through the end of Summer 2025. Assuming production runs smoothly, the film could keep its current release date of May 1, 2026. It is currently unknown if its planned sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars  will shoot concurrently with Avengers 5. In addition, we have also learned that due to the size of the cast and the film itself , several actors will be filming their scenes in chunks. Actors may have to film all their scenes at once in the span of weeks without the whole cast or even everyone in the scene being present during the shoot. The project, originally known as Avengers: The Kang Dynasty , was set to feature its namesake, Kang the Conqueror as its primary antagonist. Kang and his variants have been recurring characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far, being featured in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania  and both seasons of Loki . Following an arrest and later two misdemeanors, the sole performer behind Kang and his variants, Jonathan Majors was dropped from the project and the role. This led to the project being referred to as Avengers 5  from that point on. At the moment, it's currently unknown whether or not Kang will remain as the film’s antagonist with a different actor or be replaced with a different antagonist. Regardless, the change in the film’s title hints at a reduced role for the character in both the film and the MCU. In addition to the title change and troubles with talent, the film has lost its director and writer. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings ’ director, Destin Daniel Cretton was originally set to direct the film after it was announced shortly after San Diego Comic Con 2022. Cretton exited the project in November of 2023. A few months after Comic Con, Jeff Loveness was announced to be writing the film, but was replaced by Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnes s’ Michael Waldron in November 2023, as well. In December 2023, @rDCUleaks on X, reported that between Loveness leaving the project and Waldron’s hiring, Andrew Lanham was set to write the film.  Waldron is currently set to write both Avengers 5  and its sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars which will be released May 1, 2026 and May 7, 2027, respectively.
