  • REVIEW: ‘Inside Out 2ʼ Is One Of Pixar's Best Sequels

"I Am A Good Person" Inside Out 2 has provided Pixar with one of the studio's best sequels since Toy Story 2. At a time when it seems as though animated creativity is not always being rewarded or praised, Inside Out 2 provides audiences with a story that can be considered a story for people of all ages regardless if they are children or adults. Inside Out 2 is willing to confront the growing reality for many who are coming of age while also still creating a story that does not want to lose its core audience from the first film but instead, grows with them in the process. The film begins with essentially showing how the protagonist of the story Riley, is no longer a little girl anymore and has become a teenager. There is a montage of everything that Riley has experienced in the time that has passed between the first and second films. Riley is no longer the little young girl we once first adored in the first film and neither are her emotions. We are eventually introduced to Riley's much more complicated emotions ennui , envy , embarrassment , and the main new antagonist of this story, anxiety. Keep in mind during the beginning of this film Riley's sense of self states that she is "a good person." Throughout the film, anxiety takes over Riley's body and as a result, she is constantly questioning her self-worth and thinking of the worst-case scenarios for literally everything. This occurs when her main emotions joy, anger, fear, disgust, and sadness are locked out of the main control system for Riley's mind. This key provides an excellent metaphor for suppressed emotions. Towards the end of the film, we can see how dangerous anxiety can be, essentially how anxiety is the true thief of joy. Riley within the story, constantly pushed herself extremely hard solely because she wanted to fit in and accomplish her biggest goal at the time which was getting on the school hockey team. As the film continues to progress Riley's sense of self becomes obsessed with the idea that she is 'not good enough' thanks to anxiety. Riley tries to do everything to be accepted by the 'cool kids', including pushing away two of her closest friends throughout the movie. The final act of this movie between anxiety and joy is what makes this film among Pixar's best. There was a constant repetition that Riley felt she was not good enough, that her true sense of self had been stolen away from her and overtaken by anxiety. Joy learns the lesson of allowing Riley to grow into a person who is allowed to make mistakes. Similar to the first film where she learned that it was okay for Riley to feel sadness to get through the pain. Eventually, anxiety gives up her control over Riley and the other emotions are finally able to restore Riley to who she once was. The film provides an excellent life lesson in that it's okay to grow up and feel not as you once were. Inside Out 2' s strength lies in the strong voice acting and portrayals of each complex emotion during this film, more specifically Maya Hawke's portrayal of the emotion, anxiety. Thankfully, Disney is not shying away from showing the seriousness of a panic attack on screen and the fact that even kids as young as Riley in this story go through serious pain all at the forefront of trying to fit in. Puberty is something that everyone will experience and it comes with a range of emotions. There is something comforting about being able to relive those experiences and relate to them on screen which is such a bonus for the Inside Out 2 film. Ultimately, In side Out 2 creates a much more intense and heavy screenplay full of a larger mixture of complicated emotions. These new complex emotions eventually overwhelm Riley's mind as she goes through experiences that many teenagers before her have already gone through. While this film is incredibly powerful, it successfully expands upon the strengths of the first film. The greater story around this movie is the battle between feeling ' good enough ' and ' being a good person .' The final consensus around this movie is that you can be all of these things and more because we are imperfect and incredibly flawed as human beings. There is no such thing as being prepared for every single crisis because life, truly goes on no matter how prepared you are for life's craziest disasters. Pixar has once again proven that animation is not solely just for children. Animation is a constantly progressing and moving medium that all people should be able to enjoy and experience regardless of who they are. Even in times when it seems that things could potentially feel wrong, films like Inside Out 2 are not afraid to confront very real normalities and realities that exist within the world. Looking for a good time this Summer? Interested in a film that one can simultaneously cry and laugh at? If that is a yes to both questions, look no further than Inside Out 2 . Final Rating: 4.5/5 Inside Out 2 is now in theaters everywhere and will be available on Disney + later this year.

  • EXCLUSIVE: ‘The Kane Chronicles’ Series Is In Development At Disney+

A series adaptation of Rick Riordan’s The Kane Chronicles trilogy is in development at Disney+, which is home to its sister series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians . The series is being described as being set in the world of Percy Jackson. Similar to Percy Jackson and the Olympians , Riordan will come onboard as a writer and executive producer for the series. In 2020, Riordan had announced that Netflix was developing a trilogy of films adapting The Kane Chronicles . Since its announcement, no updates were made until February of this year when Riordan announced the films would not move forward after four years of development hell. In May, during his spring update, he mentioned exploring other options for the franchise but had nothing to announce at the time. Following the success of Percy Jackson and the Olympians , it does not come as a surprise that Disney would want to expand the universe in a similar format. The Kane Chronicles focuses on two siblings, Carter and Sadie Kane, who are teenage magicians, and descendants of the pharaohs of ancient Egypt. Although it focuses on a different set of mythology, there have been subtle hints and crossovers in the respective book franchises that suggest these mythological worlds coexist. Riordan has written crossover stories where characters from Percy Jackson encounter characters from The Kane Chronicles : "The Son of Sobek,” "The Staff of Serapis," and "The Crown of Ptolemy.” These crossovers demonstrate that the characters and mythologies from both series can interact, which opens the way for more possibilities for future interactions in the live-action shared universe on Disney+. This story is still developing.

  • 'The Fantastic Four' Cast, Filming Dates And Locations

The Fantastic Four is one of Marvel Studios' most anticipated, and anxiously awaited films due to the mixed to negative reception of the past movies. It is the studios first attempt to feature a film of the titular heroes since regaining the film rights after Disney acquired 20th Century Fox. After numerous release date delays and casting rumors, the movie has gathered a stellar cast and the filming is set to begin in late July. Let's breakdown the cast of The Fantastic Four and details we've uncovered on filming... CAST Vanessa Kirby as Susan Storm aka The Invisible Woman Vanessa Kirby ( Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning) is the latest actress set to portray Sue Storm, also known as The Invisible Woman, on the big screen. Previously, this iconic character has been brought to life by Jessica Alba and Kate Mara. Alba, in particular, has become synonymous with the role as she was the face most people associate with Sue Storm for the last two decades. This iteration of Sue Storm is rumored to take on a more mature role, with sources suggesting she will be portrayed as a mother. This will be the first live-action project where Sue Storm and Reed Richards will be portrayed as parents on-screen. It also means that this will be the first time we will see Sue and Reed's kids. Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards aka Mister Fantastic Pedro Pascal's ( The Mandalorian, The Last of Us ) casting as Reed Richards came as a surprise for many fans as Pascal is the first non-white actor to portray Mr. Fantastic. However, he is not the first person to portray this character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. John Krasinski, who was a very popular fan-cast for the role, played an alternate universe version of this character in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness , and got killed off by Wanda Maximoff immediately. In addition to being the smartest man alive, Reed also has the power of elasticity. Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm aka The Human Torch Joseph Quinn is one of the recent rising stars as he got universal recognition with his role as Eddie Munson in Stranger Things . Quinn has expressed his excitement for playing Johnny Storm in The Fantastic Four several times. In a recent interview with ComicBook , Quinn praised the fellow cast members and the director Matt Shakman: "It's been a wonderful experience so far. We've got a wonderful gang on it with Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, to name but a few. I'm very excited. I'm nervous, obviously. I'm really looking forward to getting into it. The script is amazing." Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm aka The Thing Ebon Moss-Bachrach is another addition to this stellar cast. Moss- Bachrach recently made a joke on The Daily Show letting us know how he has been preparing for his role: I'm playing Ben Grimm, who becomes The Thing, who is a man encased in rock. So, yeah, I've been just looking at rocks. Ralph Ineson as Galactus Ralph Ineson's casting as Galactus came as a pleasant surprise to many fans as there were rumors about the actors such as Antonio Banderas and Javier Bardem being considered for the role. Ineson is best known for his deep gravelly voice, which is a perfect fit for Galactus. Galactus, a character of immense power and presence, demands a voice that can convey his colossal and commanding existence. Julia Garner as Shalla-Bal Julia Garner has been cast as Shalla-Bal, who is Silver Surfer's love interest in the comics. Shalla-Bal is expected to be one of Galactus' heralds in The Fantastic Four . Other cast members Natasha Lyonne, John Malkovich and Paul Walter Hauser are the some recent additions to the cast. Their roles are still under wraps. We will most likely find out their roles once the film begins filming. FILMING The Fantastic Four is set to begin filming on July 24 according to recent listings we have received and the film is expected to wrap around December 2024. The film is currently in pre-production and in the costume making process. The filming will take place in the following locations: London, United Kingdom Montreal, Quebec, Canada Dublin, Ireland Update on June 26: Kevin Feige has revealed the filming officially begins on July 29, right after Comic-Con on The Official Marvel Podcast. We believe the date we've received is still correct and the crew will arrive before July 29 for preparations. The plot of The Fantastic Four is under wraps. Some hints from the official art Marvel Studios has shared suggest that the movie is taking place in an alternate universe, and in a retrofuturistic timeline. The Fantastic Four releases in theaters on July 25, 2025. This story is still developing.

  • INTERVIEW: Nexus Point News Sits Down With Author Jaime McAfee

Are you interested in consuming more indie comics but want more diverse storytelling and protagonists? Are you interested in a story about a fierce and strong warrior who is ready to take over the world by any means necessary? If so Alexis Wyle is absolutely the comic for you! This story is exclusively created and written by Jamie McAfee. The story itself is drawn and completely illustrated by Marc Rene. Nexus Point News recently got the chance to interview Jaimee McAfee and ask her about all things comic books and Alexis Wyle . Here is what the author herself had to say about the future of her series and what she has in store as a creative. (NPN) Alexis Wyle is such a strong protagonist in your series. Can you explain the creative process behind making her and establishing her character arcs early in the process? I have a very vivid imagination, and I dreamed up Alexis. I wanted her to embody everything a woman is, flaws and all. I wanted to always include the past, present, and future, so I developed her backstory first. I wanted to showcase who she was and where she came from. You find out who her greatest love was and is from the start. (NPN) What are you most looking forward to as more fans continue to discover your work and begin to understand Alexis Wyle? I am looking for more of the reader's opinions. I love hearing everyone’s thoughts on what is happening with their interpretations. I look forward to meeting more people in person. Truly speaking with people about the story face to face is so exciting. (NPN) Did you take any inspiration from any previous work or comic book characters when creating Alexis Wyle?   I am a huge The Walking Dead fan, so I wanted some of those vibes as far as the different personalities of the characters and dark settings, but I wanted Alexis to be so original that her world would be new to everyone. I never like to focus so much on others' work that it blends into my own. (NPN) Do you ever feel personally connected to this story having created such vivid storytelling? I feel connected to the story and Alexis as a character. The story itself can be reflected in the real-life situations we deal with as humans. Fighting the evil in the world and trying to survive situations that can, in some ways, be impossible. Heartbreak and the destruction from war. (NPN) Would you be open to expanding the world of Alexis Wyle beyond the world of comic books?  The world of Alexis is one I would love to expand on. I have a deep story for all the lead characters and I would love to share their backstories and maybe even have them venture on their own. (NPN) What advice would you give to other young creatives looking to create diverse stories? My advice would be to take your time and develop the world that you want people to experience. Do not compromise yourself for anything, and enjoy your work. (NPN) Would you be willing to give NPN an exclusive for your upcoming comics series and things you have planned? Ohhhh exclusive? Chapter Two, you may get a peek at Gahanna, the evil Queen's realm. Chapter 2 of Alexis Wyle is releasing soon! You can follow along with the series here ! Make sure you follow Nexus Point News for all things comics and entertainment.

  • EXCLUSIVE: ‘The Brave And The Bold’ Lands Horror Duo Andy Muschietti & Rodo Sayagues To Pen The Next Batman Film

In Gotham, no one can hear you scream. We have learned Andy Muschietti (It Chapters 1 &2, & The Flash) and Rodo Sayagues (Alien: Romulus) are set to write the DCU’s next Batman film, The Brave and the Bold. The new dynamic duo will be tackling one of the most anticipated titles coming out of James Gunn’s and Peter Safran’s DCU. Though there’s been plenty of rumors as of late regarding Muschietti not being attached to this project, the cowl hasn’t left his closet and is still set to direct the film. Sayagues is best known for writing Evil Dead (2013), Don’t Breathe (2016), Don’t Breathe 2 (2021), and the highly anticipated Alien: Romulus. The pairing of these two horror icons may give us a sense of the tone for DCU's Gotham. The Brave and the Bold is based on Grant Morrison’s run which ran for seven years and is primarily pulling inspiration from the “Batman and Son” storyline. “Batman and Son” introduces Damian Wayne, who is set to make his live-action debut in the film. Damian is the son of Batman and Talia Al Ghul, and the grandson of Ra’s Al Ghu. Raised by his mother to be Ra’s Al Ghul’s heir, Damian was a bloodthirsty assassin who until he met his father, was trained to kill. He assumed the Robin identity following Bruce’s death and became Robin to Dick Grayson’s Batman. The Brave and the Bold will introduce the DCU’s Batman and Robin. It’s also slated to be the introduction of the Bat Family in the DCU, so characters like Nightwing and Batgirl are likely to appear. Given Dick Grayson’s prominence in Damian’s backstory and Gunn’s love for the character, his appearance is a strong possibility. Andy Muschietti is currently working on Welcome to Derry, the Max prequel series for Stephen King’s IT franchise which is bringing back Bill Skarsgård as Pennywise. Though Muschietti has yet to commit to his next project,  we have also heard from our sources, The Brave and the Bold is looking to start production in 2025. This could set it up for a Summer 2027 release. Story is still developing

  • Zack Snyder Presents 'Twilight of the Gods' at Annecy Festival

Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder, and Jay Oliva presented their upcoming animated series Twilight of the Gods at the Annecy Animation Festival during the What's On Netflix panel. The creators showcased two clips, several drawings, and a special teaser trailer edited by Zack Snyder himself. During the presentation, the hybrid animation style was also highlighted by the creators. While most of the series is 2D hand-drawn animation, 3D animation was used in some instances such as the animation for the main characters. Zack Snyder praised animation and has said fantasy illustration has always been his favorite. He described it as "incredibly satisfying storytelling in its higher form" and as a "beautiful, complete art form." Snyder then joked about animation being easier in terms of storytelling because it is devoid of actors' interpretation: You draw something cool, then the actors will come and f**k it up. According to the guidebook given for the presentation; Episodes 1 and 8 are directed by Zack Snyder Episodes 2 and 7 are directed by Jay Oliva Episodes 3 and 5 are directed by Tim Divar/Andrew Tamadl Episodes 4 and 6 are directed by Dave Hartman/Andrew Tamadl This information is relevant because, during the presentation, it was mentioned that Zack Snyder's episodes would be longer. It means we can expect a longer pilot and finale. In the same guidebook, Zack Snyder talks more about the series: Twilight of the Gods is a heroic story packed with epic themes of loss and revenge. All of the characters are searching for some sort of catharsis along the way. They've all lost something and they're looking to find some kind of retribution while hopefully coming out the other side having made peace with the demons that sent them on this quest to begin with. In one of the clips that were shown, Sigrid and Leif seek help from the god Tiwaz, who's rotting away because he doesn't have many people worshipping him. In this world, not having worshippers means rotting for gods. They get rejected as they are "asking too much". Sigrid then offers him immortality and says she will bring the golden apple from Fafnir the dragon. Tiwaz believes they are going to fail, but still accepts the offer. In another clip, we've been shown the epic dragon fight scene. There is not much to say about this scene except that the action was beautifully animated and the music was an integral part of this epic scene. This presentation certainly put Twilight of the Gods on my must-watch list. Twilight of The Gods is coming to Netflix on September 19.

  • Warner Bros. Unveils 'Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim' Special First Look at Annecy Festival

This year's Annecy Animation Festival is more special than ever from premieres to special first looks at upcoming animated projects. One of the projects we have seen was The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim . Andy Serkis, who was a special guest at the event, held a panel with The War of the Rohirrim director Kenji Kamiyama, Warner Bros. Senior Vice President Jason DeMarco, and producers Philippa Boyens and Joseph Chou. The panel started with a special message by Peter Jackson, who was revealed to be an executive producer of the film at the event, thanking the Annecy attendees and saying Annecy was the first audience. However, the message was interrupted by Gollum attacking Jackson and dropping several f-bombs. The video ended with Gollum saying “Animate this motherf****r.” The panel then continued with Andy Serkis presenting the first 20 minutes of The War of the Rohirrim , which ended with a short teaser for the film. The official synopsis for the film reads as: Set 183 years before the events chronicled in the original trilogy of films. A sudden attack by Wulf, a clever and ruthless Dunlending lord seeking vengeance for the death of his father, forces Helm and his people to make a daring last stand in the ancient stronghold of the Hornburg - a mighty fortress that will later come to be known as Helm's Deep. Finding herself in an increasingly desperate situation, Hera, the daughter of Helm, must summon the will to lead the resistance against a deadly enemy intent on their total destruction. The preview we have seen introduced the characters and showed us how Wulf came to seek vengeance. The creators mentioned how they had very little material to work on and how they had to give all the characters meaningful backgrounds. Philippa Boyens described the movie as "epic and intimate character work." The film being the first female-led Lord of the Rings feature was one of the central talking points. Boyens and Kamiyama also mentioned how the character Héra "sort of emerged" naturally when they started to craft the story and they believed it should be her story first and foremost. Boyens also added Héra is "not the typical superhero heroine type," and how she is a "more real character with flaws and courage." It was also mentioned that current version of the movie is 2 hours 30 minutes, however, they noted that they were still editing and it was not the final runtime. The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim will release in theaters on December 13.

  • EXCLUSIVE: DC Studios Keeps It Righteous Adding The Writing Team for ‘BOOSTER GOLD’

The only description we have about Booster Gold is by James Gunn when he announced DC Studios’ Chapter One: Gods and Monsters slate: “Next up is a TV series called Booster Gold. Booster Gold is one of comic’s really popular cult heroes. He is a fascinating guy. He’s a loser from the future who uses future technology to come back to present day and become a superhero so that people will love him. It is basically the superhero story of imposter syndrome on an HBO Max series.” This story is still developing…

  • 'The Office' Spin-off Gets A Title And Adds Some Familiar Names To The Writers' Room

It wasn't long ago that the exciting news broke about a new spin-off of The Office, created by Greg Daniels (The Office) and Michael Koman (Nathan For You). This anticipated series will be set in the same universe as the original The Office. While it's still unknown whether some faces from the original series will make an appearance, the spin-off has already added some new names. It was recently reported that Domhnall Gleeson (About Time, Ex Machina) and Sabrina Impacciatore (White Lotus) would star in the series. Additionally, we've got a basic premise for the spin-off: The documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch is in search of a new subject when they discover a dying historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it with volunteer reporters. In addition to this information, we are excited to share that we have discovered the name of the series and the writers' room lineup. The new The Office spin-off is called The Paper, according to listings on the Writers Guild of America website. The title is simple and to the point, much like The Office, and it serves as a common denominator for both series; from paper company to newspaper and publishing... The writers' room of the series includes the following names, apart from the creators and co-showrunners Daniels and Koman: Paul B. Lieberstein (The Office, The Newsroom), you might recognize the name since Lieberstein portrayed the much-hated HR head Toby in The Office. Jessi R. Klein (Dead to Me, Big Mouth, Mrs. Fletcher) Amanda Rosenberg (Big Door Prize, Fate: Winx Saga) Ben Philippe (Only Murders in the Building, Interview With the Vampire) Patrick Kang (Trial & Error, Young Rock) Michael Levin (Trial & Error, Young Rock) While the WGA listings confirm the involvement of these individuals in The Paper, their specific roles within the series remain undisclosed. The series is also listed for 2024-2025 TV Season. Considering we have got a few announcements recently, I believe it won't be long until we get some more cast announcements and details. This story is still developing...
